We’ve got it all right here. 1) Christopher Nolan on Shooting in 3D and More While it can be argued that this isn’t “news” per se, director Christopher Nolan’s interview with the Directors Guild of America has got people talking as only Nolan can do. The director of The Dark Knight Rises and Inception talked about his preferences in filming. Specifically, he prefers to shoot on film cameras instead of digital cameras as its cheaper and better quality in his opinion. He is a big fan of IMAX and what it can do for storytelling, but is not sold on 3D as part of the cinematic experience for audiences. Go to DGA.org to read his full interview, which has much more from the great director.2) Anthony Hopkins is Alfred Hitchcock Alfred Hitchcock is most likely the most iconic film director of all time, so it’s not surprising that Fox Searchlight Pictures is making a biopic based on the book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho by Stephen Rebello. Veteran actor plays the title role, and based on this first image of the actor in prosthetics, it looks like he’ll pull it off quite nicely. The film comes out next year and has a great cast, including Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson, and Jessica Biel. [First Showing]3) Catching Fire Might Have a Director The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire was left without a director when Gary Ross decided not to return. With filming planned to start this Fall, Lionsgate scrambled to get a new director, and they have now made an offer to Francis Lawrence, director of I Am Legend and Constantine. The shortlist of possibles to helm the next installment in blockbuster franchise was very intriguing, and included such names as Alfonso Cuaron and Duncan Jones. Lawrence apparently was picked more for his open schedule than anything else.
