The Buzz: Prometheus, Man of Steel, Jurassic Park 4, and More!

The Buzz is a feature in which we round up the Top 3 most-buzzed-about movie/TV stories of the week (in chronological order). Why go through pages of blogs just to find out what everyone is talking about? We’ve got it all right here.

1) What David Said To Engineer in “Prometheus”

Ridley Scott’s unofficial alien prequel Prometheus is one of the most polarizing sci-fi films in recent history. One of the issues people have is that the film asks more questions than it answers, which is becoming a trend for writer Damon Lindelof. One of the big questions people have had is what exactly the android David (Michael Fassbender) said to the engineer that made him go ape shit. Thanks to the Linguist Teacher on the film, we now know that he said, “This man is here because he does not want to die. He believes you can give him more life.” This is basically what Weyland told him to ask, but it’s not clear why that pissed the guy off so much. I’m sure there are plenty of theories, but most of us were hoping for something a bit more interesting.

2) Hans Zimmer Scoring “Man of Steel”

I’m honestly not quite sure why this is a big story, but I imagine it goes back to Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder. Hans Zimmer will be composing the score for Snyder’s Man of Steel, which is being produced by Christopher Nolan. Zimmer was worked on pretty much all of Nolan’s blockbuster films, including The Dark Knight Trilogy. Many fans and bloggers are taking this to mean Nolan has confidence in the film and may be playing a larger role than expected, since Snyder isn’t using his usual composer, Tyler Bates. However, this may just be making a mountain out of molehill.

3) “RotPotA” Writers Working on “Jurassic Park 4”

One of the surprise hits of last year was Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which was probably my favorite film of the year. Writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver have now been tapped to write the screenplay for Jurassic Park 4. Spielberg has been wanting to make this for a while, but he supposedly won’t be directing, which shouldn’t be a surprise. I’m not sure how many people want a fourth film in series, especially since the visual effects in the original hold up so well. Let us know in the comments if you are looking forward to this.
