Comic-Con News: WonderCon Moving, Plus Another Convention In The Works? Dan Koelsch, September 1, 2012 WonderCon is a comic book convention run by Comic-Con International. It’s basically a smaller version of San Diego Comic-Con that is usually held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco during Spring. This year, the convention was moved to Anaheim due to construction at Moscone, with the promise that next year it will be back to the Bay Area where it had been since 1987. However, it looks like that might not be the case. Get the details on this, plus a possible third comic book convention from CCI, after the break. Publishers Weekly (via /Film) is reporting that for 2013, WonderCon will be returning to the Anaheim Convention Center across from Disneyland. The situation is a bit complicated, but it basically boils down to the fact that the Moscone Center didn’t have any Spring dates available in 2013. Anaheim, however, did have Spring dates available, so the decision was made to go back to Anaheim for Easter weekend, March 29-31.However, Moscone said that they might have dates available in Fall 2013, but they wouldn’t know until this October. So, Comic-Con International’s VP of Marketing and Public Relations David Glanzer told Publisher’s weekly that they if those dates are available, they’ll move WonderCon to Fall in order to keep it in San Francisco, and they’ll just rename the Anaheim Convention. The questions that arises from all of this are whether CCI can handle, and if Hollywood would support, another convention. New York Comic-Con isn’t run by CCI, but it has already established itself as the Fall convention for studios to attend. Let us know what you think about all of this in the comments below. Should WonderCon just move to Anaheim, or is there enough reason to keep a convention in San Francisco? Comic-Con Conventions Events Comic-ConWondercon
