The Buzz: Seth MacFarlane, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Skyfall, and More! Dan Koelsch, October 5, 2012 The Buzz is a feature in which we round up the Top 3 most-buzzed-about movie/TV stories of the week (in more-or-less chronological order). Why go through pages of blogs just to find out what everyone is talking about? We’ve got it all right here in The Buzz. 1) Seth MacFarlane To Host OscarsSeth MacFarlane’s gaffe (and reaction) was one of the bright spots of an otherwise lackluster Emmy Awards ceremony last month. It looks like American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences took notice, since this week he was tapped to host the 85th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 24th, 2013. For the few who don’t know MacFarlane’s name or face, you should know his work. He is creator of Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show , and he wrote and directed this year’s biggest R-rated comedy hit Ted. He also had some practice with this hosting thing, having recently hosted two Comedy Central Roasts and Saturday Night Live. While he may not be the instantly recognizable face The Academy Awards are used to, he should help bring in the much-needed younger demographic. How do you think MacFarlane will do as host of the Oscars?2) Alison Brie Could Be Captain America’s Love Interest She’s the hottest Community college girl on television, and now Alison Brie is up for a role in Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The sequel follows Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) as he tries to adjust to the modern era after being frozen for almost 70 years. Marvel Studios is casting a lead female role for the movie, and Emelia Clarke, Jessica Findlay Brown, Teresa Palmer, and Brie have been added to the shortlist that already included Anna Kendrick, Imogen Poots and Felicity Jones. Of course, there’s been a lot of speculation as to who this character will be, but it’s most likely Sharon Carter, granddaughter of Roger’s old love interest Peggy Carter. Sharon also becomes an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the comics, so it makes sense that we could see a kick-ass love interest for Captain America with some awkwardness sprinkled in. Considering Community executive producers Anthony and Joe Russo are directing the movie, I’d say Brie is the leading contender. Speaking of hot ladies, Scarlett Johannson will reprise her role as Black Widow in the film.3) Adele’s “Skyfall” Theme Premieres OnlineAdele tweeted a picture on Monday that suggested she was going to record the theme song for the newest James Bond movie Skyfall. After it became official and teased, we finally got to hear the whole song yesterday. The response has generally been positive, with many claiming it to be one the of the series’ best themes. I really like it and think it fits perfectly with the tone of the Bond movies. Listen below and let us know what you think.
