Using footage from a video NASA released last year, We Are The Explorers hopes to help inspire the next generation of Space explorers. And what better way to reach them than in their seats at the local cinema, getting ready to watch the next installment of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek franchise. More info after the jump! The Aerospace Industry Association (AIA) created the We Are The Explorers campaign to try to reach viewers and impress upon them the importance of the space program. Federal law prevents NASA from buying air time to advertise, so AIA plans to cut a 30-second trailer together from a video released by NASA last year. The video, which you can watch below, was narrated by Peter Cullen (voice of Optimus Prime in Michael Bay’s Transformers movies), and talks about the history of NASA and its future. This new trailer will appear in front of Star Trek Into Darkness next month thanks to the campaign successfully raising the $33,000 it needed to make the trailer and to place the ad. You can still contribute to the campaign for the next 29 days. AIA is hoping that this ad will inspire students to study math and science and to chose careers in these related fields, especially aerospace.Star Trek Into Darkness on May 17th in 3D and IMAX 3D Social Networks Viral Marketing Viral Videos NASAParamount PicturesStar Trek Into DarknessTrailers
