Melissa Joan Hart Wants You To Help Kickstart “Darci’s Walk of Shame”

You may have heard how the success of the Veronica Mars kickstarter has spurred others to either explore or start kickstarters of their own to revive cancelled-to-early TV shows or TV show that should be a movie. But kickstarter is much more than that. It also gives way for other projects from other high-profile names – and smaller ones too – to give a chance for their fans to fund a project and giving them a few incentives as well.

Melissa Joan Hart (Clarrisa Explains It All, Sabrina) has a kickstarter of her own that she liked her fans and others to help launch. But it’s not to revive or make a movie of her previous credits, it’s to help fund a romantic comedy that she is passionate about. Hit the jump for more.

The project Hart is asking you to help kickstart is a Millennium Film-film distributed comedy called Darci’s Walk of Shame. The film centers on the titular character Darci (to be played by Hart) who seems to find all the wrong relationships in life and is the target of constant family ridicule. After deciding to attend her sister’s wedding alone, she finds herself walking out of her comfort zone. This unfortunate decision has her walking up in a stranger’s home, which forces her to walk that dreaded walk of shame. Darci will spend the rest of the movie trying to undo what she did.

Has passionate about the project has Hart is, she needs your help. She already has a distribution deal from Millennium, but the funds to produce this passion project will have to come from you.

Again, you can send anywhere from a $1 pledge to $10,000, and the incentives can go anywhere from a simple “thank you” to having a role in the movie. The film is looking to reach a goal of $2 million in 43 days. They are at $13,105 as of this post.

Besides all of that, it looks like other stars are going to look to get fans to fund their passion projects if studios deem them unworthy. So thanks in part to the Veronica Mars kickstarter success, you are going to start to see a lot more crowd funding projects hit the web.
