Trailers Weekly: “Anchorman 2”, “The Lone Ranger”, “The World’s End”, “Don Jon”, “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” Michael Lee, May 25, 2013 Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. This week we have trailers for Anchorman 2, The Lone Ranger, The World’s End, Don Jon, and Ain’t Them Bodies Saints.Anchorman 2 The sequel to Adam McKay‘s news anchor comedy hits theaters on December 20. But we are still getting hit with teasers featuring the news team quipping outrageous catchphrases and demeaning remarks. And as awkward as that is, it’s a lot of fun to watch. Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and David Koechner, all return to reprise their respective roles. The Lone Ranger Johnny Depp teams up again with Pirates of the Caribbean and Rango director Gore Verbinski for this adaptation of a western classic. But Depp is taking the role of a sidekick, Tonto, while Armie Hammer takes the lead titular role. The Lone Ranger opens in theaters on July 3. The World’s End Edgar Wright‘s final installment of the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy will probably end up being the most hilarious and visual effects heavy of the entire trilogy. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost band together with some old friends for one last bar crawl in attempts to make it to the elusive The World’s End. The only thing in their way is the robots posing as humans that have taken over their hometown. Rosamund Pike also stars. The World’s End opens in theaters on August 23. Don Jon Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s Sundance hit will finally make its way into theaters on October 18. Thought I haven’t seen the movie, word on the street is that most of what you will see in this trailer are the best parts of the film. But selling a movie based on porn addiction is a tough sell for anyone, so it’s understandable why it may be marketed this way. Scarlett Johannson and Tony Danza also star. Ain’t Them Bodies Saints Another film that is making waves that made is debut at Sundance, is David Lowery’s Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, starring Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck. The film centers on the lives of an outlaw (Affleck), his wife (Mara), and the Sheriff (Ben Foster) who is looking to take them down. The film opens in limited release on August 16.
