‘RoboCop’ PSA Aims To Kill Drunk Drivers Michael Lee, December 18, 2013December 18, 2013 In an attempt to deter drunk driving this holiday season, Sony Pictures RoboCop and the National Highway Safety Administration have teamed for a brand new anti-drunk driving PSA. In it we see our titular hero apprehending suspects with the kind of technology our law enforcement can only dream of. Plus the sight of a half-man and half-machine cop should make any drunk driver wet their pants.Hit the jump to see the entire video. Not sure threatening people with a character who does not even exist will work. We don’t even have the technology to read alcoholic content without having the accused breath into a machine or give a sample of blood, so why make a PSA with RoboCop – who, again, doesn’t exist -, who has the ability to read blood alcohol level before he can make a traffic stop. This PSA had good intentions, but let’s face it, we don’t need someone like RoboCop to tell us the consequences of driving under the influence.Directed by Jose Padilha, the rebooted RoboCop stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, and Jackie Earle Haley. Sony Pictures will release the film into theaters on February 4, 2014.
