“Transcendence” Viral Site Delivers A Harrowing Message Michael Lee, December 20, 2013 A trio of trailers from Wally Pfister‘s Transcendence have been revealed over past few days, each of them having their own unique personality and narrator. While the first two don’t feature any footage, they do give us an idea of the plot of the film. But the third one is of particular interest considering that it opens the door for a viral marketing campaign.In the film, Johnny Depp plays Dr. Will Caster, the world’s foremost researcher in artificial intelligence. Caster’s latest experiment leads him to create a highly evolved sentient being that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. While a successful result could rewrite history, there are those who don’t believe in his plight. His controversial experiment has made him a prime target of assassinations.The new trailer is a call to stop relying on computers, unplug from the network, and stop the scientists that build the machines that humanity desperately needs. Hit the jump to see the new trailer.Here are the first two trailers.Sure these trailers tell us how limitations as humans, and how we can expand on those limitations, and asks what the consequences are if we reach them, but what about those who see the danger of that.The new viral video comes from the film’s anti-technology group, RIFT (“Revolutionary Independence From Technology”), a faction of technophobes looking to stop Caster and those like him. However, their mission be the catalyst that pushes Caster to succeed.Not much else is known about the film itself, and the new site doesn’t offer too many clues about RIFT or the film itself. Only the trailer is available. But that will all change in the coming weeks leading up to the film’s release.Here’s the video.Transcendence also stars Morgan Freeman, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara and Cole Hauser.
