Alfonso Cuarón‘s Gravity clearly states that sound does not carry in space. And despite all the expensive high-tech equipment it takes us to get outside of Earth’s orbit, there was nothing Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) could have done to let the people down on Earth know that she could not get out of trouble.
