Possible Viral For Angelina Jolie’s Salt?

If you’ve seen the trailer for Angelina Jolie’s new action film Salt, you know that her title character Evelyn Salt has become a fugitive from the CIA because she may be a Russian Spy. Now, Sony Pictures (District 9, 2012) is asking for your help in finding her. Check out the details after the break.

The whole premise of the movie seems to lie on the fact that nobody (including the audience) really knows if Salt is a spy (technically a sleeper agent), or if the informant was lying, which the film’s official website, WhoIsSalt.com, drives home. On the site, you’ll see that Sony is doing a game. The details are scarce so far, but you can sign up at DayXExists.com to become an undercover agent trying to hunt down Salt and stop something called “Day X”. The trailer, which you can see below, implies that something pretty bad is going to happen, so maybe that’s Day X.





This may be more than just a game or contest, as ARGInsider on Twitter thinks this will be a full ARG. Salt has its own Twitter account, which seems to be the best place for hints, such as one of their latest tweets.

I’ve watched the trailer twice, but I didn’t see anything that could help. Check it out for yourself and let us know if you find anything. Salt, direct by Phillip Noyce (Patriot Games, The Saint), opens July 23, 2010.


Update: Looks like the first clue is at 1:49 in the trailer, thanks to Nighthawk in the comments below. The motorcycle’s license plate says DayXExists.com, which is not much of a clue, since the website already has that link. Stay tuned to the Salt Twitter for more clues.

  3. For those who wanna make it right… the codes are those for REALLY weird reasons

    In the first mission I saw the underlined letters S,P,D,E and R… I type it as I saw it but when it checked in red I realized there was missing the “i” for the word “spider” so I just put it in and Voilá! SPIDER was the first one, the same happen with the second, although the second wasn’t based on underlined letter BUT Capital Letters… L,O,Y,A ummm something’s missing! “loyal”

    Now in the third was kinda tricky cuz’ I though there was a additional letter so when I got R,A,I,O and T… I came out with “riot” but apparently that wasn’t so I though “What if in the first two was missing 1 letter and in the third is missing 2?” so I made an anagram with the possible words (Thank you Dan Brown!!!) and the first on my list made it: TRAITOR (because she was betrayed by someone)

    So I suggest you all players if you really wanna make it a fun game, think, let your mind be into the story and you will get the clues real fast… I just have two days of playing and it’s been fun! Plus, a grammar or spelling class can help you out…
