Let Me In Viral Postcards From New Mexico Dan Koelsch, August 9, 2010 Overture’s Let Me In has an interesting viral campaign. While there have websites and mailings, the viral hasn’t really gone anywhere. There is no direction. Still, I find all the little bits to be fun and very intricately tied to the film, like the most recent update, a postcard from New Mexico. Get the photos and details after the break. The postcard comes from Los Alamos, NM, which is the setting for Let Me In. It’s even stamped by the Albuquerque post office, so Overture really went out of their way to make it authentic. The back is view of the vast natural landscape just outside Los Alamos, while the front has morse code. Given that the viral site also had morse code, I imagine it will play some role in the film. The code translates to “I must be gone and live, or stay and die”, which is a line from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. In the film, Abby is a vampire who has to move from town to town finding prey without being caught, so the line fits. While I like getting things in the mail and find the items to be detailed and interesting, the overall purpose eludes me. This does not look to be part of any game or narrative, so it’s hard to to figure out what to make of it all. Check out my photos of the postcard below and let me know what you think.
