MovieViral is Looking for New Writers! Dan Koelsch, September 13, 2010October 18, 2011 That’s right, MovieViral.com is looking to hire new writers to help us expand on our content and improve our efficiency. Do you have what it takes to write for such an illustrious organization? Find out the job details and requirements after the break (spoiler alert: it’s unpaid). Who We AreMovieViral covers a range of news. Our main focus is viral marketing, especially viral campaigns and/or ARGs for films. We also cover other viral news relating to film and television, including transmedia, viral videos, fan made stuff, and social networking. We even throw in a few reviews and editorials now and again. These are all topics and categories you would cover as a writer. MovieViral is a member of Google News and has been sourced by print articles and multiple film blogs. You can learn more about our references and recognition here, and more about us in general in our About Us section. Job DescriptionWe are currently looking for at least one staff writer and one contributing writer, but are open to more depending on circumstances. Staff writers are expected to write more often and more consistently than contributors, and may eventually not need editor approval when writing or publishing an article. While neither position is paid, this is a great outlet for people who love viral, ARGs, etc. Our contacts and recognition also make it a great networking oppurtunity and resume builder. As a member of the press, we also sometimes get freebies and early screenings. If we expand enough to the point where we can offer wages, staff writers would be first in line after editors. RequirementsAll writers need to have some experience writing material that has been published, whether it be online (including blogs) or in print. We are looking for writers who are competent journalists in that they check their work, including proofreading and fact checking. Most importantly, we are looking for reliable people. For our staff writer position, we need someone who can write at least 3 or 4 articles per week, and is able to meet the quick deadlines we present. Contributing writers need to write at least 1 or 2 articles a week. Obviously the more you write, the better. For more details on the positions and requirements, contact me. How To ApplySend an email to me at DanKoelsch@MovieViral.com with your experience and a writing sample, preferably something that is a news article and/or related to movies. We are accepting applications until September 25th (We have extended the deadline indefinitely. We’ll update this post once we have completed our search). We will follow up with you with questions, and once we make a decision, we will let you know. Feel free to ask any questions you have, and spread the word so we get a good turnout! Good luck!
