Michael Lee, January 21, 2011January 21, 2011

Sony has launched an classic form of viral marketing for their upcoming thriller The Roommate. The studio has posted ads around various cities looking for a roommate who has a killer personality. Like most ads posted on telephone poles or light posts people who are interested in the ad contact the person by calling a phone number. Should you call Rebecca (Leighton Meester) at (866) 666-6001, she tells you she needs a roommate and states that “We can share everything…” and concludes with Meester yelling “I just want to be your friend” before going into a rage.

Sony is also including the usual forms of social media interaction by creating accounts for Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.

So give it a try, are you willing to let Rebecca be your roommate?
