No Hall H Panel For Marvel Studios At Comic-Con Dan Koelsch, June 22, 2011 Early last week, we told you that many major movie studios had decided not to devote their marketing efforts towards this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, and others were still on the fence, including Marvel Studios. Many of us thought there was no way Marvel could back out of Comic-Con with their mega superhero release The Avengers coming out next summer, but it looks like we were wrong. Get the details after the break. The LA Times reports that while Marvel will still have a booth at Comic-Con like usual, they will not have a Hall H Panel. The studio claims that the tight shooting schedule in New Mexico is the reason The Avengers won’t be featured in the 6,000 seat hall, as well as the daunting expectations to match last year’s panel that featured a surprise appearance by the entire Avengers team. Hall H is the premiere panel location for big movies at the convention. There is some speculation that Marvel is waiting for Disney’s D23 Expo in August, a convention dedicated to Disney properties. There is also speculation that despite not having a panel, Marvel could still do other promotional stunts outside the convention, which is pretty common. There could even be a screening of Captain America, since it comes out the Friday of the convention. Fortunately, Marvel will still be represented in some respects in Hall H, since Sony Pictures will be featuring their Spider-Man reboot.Do you think it’s a big deal that Marvel won’t have a panel for The Avengers? Warner Bros. is also sitting out despite their Superman movie The Man of Steel being released next Christmas and The Dark Knight Rises opening even sooner. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. San Diego Comic-Con is from July 20th to July 24th this year, and we’ll again be covering it from the floor of the convention.
