Follow “Ted” The Vulgar Teddy Bear On Facebook and Twitter

Dan Koelsch, April 2, 2012April 2, 2012

The red band trailer for Seth MacFarlane’s Ted debuted this weekend online, and it’s a tale about “a grown man (Mark Wahlberg) who must deal with the cherished teddy bear who came to life as the result of a childhood wish…and has refused to leave his side ever since.” The CGI bear, voiced by MacFarlane (channeling Peter Griffin), also has a social media presence.

The trailer (shown above) reveals the film’s official website, TedIsReal.com, which then links you to Ted’s own Facebook and Twitter pages. The entries are pretty funny so far, but a little NSFW, so beware. The Facebook page gives some good character background for Ted, even telling us that he was “born” on Christmas, 1985.

Let us know in the comments below what you think of the red band trailer and Ted’s social media accounts. Ted opens in theaters on July 13.

    For the
record, social media agency Jetset Studios created the Facebook Timeline for

    “Ted”.

    It is important
to note that the incredible success of the “Ted” Facebook campaign (4.1
million fans as of Aug 29, 2012) was made possible by the studio and the
filmmakers who entrusted Jetset Studios to be the voice of “Ted” on
Facebook, allowing us the freedom to push the boundaries of movie marketing and
to demonstrate the true potential of social media.
