Sony Pushes “RoboCop” Viral Marketing Campaign At CES Michael Lee, January 8, 2014 When you have a product to present at CES, it is most likely to use cutting edge technology that will likely change the way people live. Sony is no stranger to that. They are one of the premier technology companies. But when you have a movie like RoboCop hitting theaters in just a few weeks, what better way to tie in the marketing for the film than use the already established viral marketing campaign at CES.Sony premiered the RoboCop viral video during CEO Kazuo Hirai’s keynote speech. The video mimics the same keynote speech that you would see at conventions like CES. In it, an OmniCorp spokesman highlights their technological achievements, and goes on to reveal their newest product, a robot with morality, the RC-2000, aka RoboCop. Check out the video below.The release of the viral video could not be more timely. A robot who possess human traits like morality is one of the film’s central traits, so premiering it at CES was a perfect move. RoboCop has already built a following in the past few years. Establishing a social media presence by launching a viral marketing campaign that consists of the faux websites OmniCorp and PSAs.
