“Muppets Most Wanted” TV Spot Sees The Internet Outraged Over New Muppets Film’s Zero Nominations

Muppets Most Wanted Golden Globe Awards Outrage Video

The Golden Globes are just one of the many Hollywood award ceremonies that precedes the big show, the Academy Awards. We’ve seen many TV spots for Golden Globe nominated films in the past few weeks. But one film wasn’t feeling the love, and that film isn’t even out in theaters yet.

Off the heels of the Twitter Overhype internet spot that hit the web last week, the Disney marketing team debuted a new Muppets Most Wanted TV spot that targeted (in jest) and aired on the Golden Globes. Hit the jump to check it out.

Fans are expressing their outrage over Muppets Most Wanted being snubbed at this year’s Golden Globes, taking to twitter to let the world know how they feel. Some tweeters are even getting into tweeting spats with each other by attacking spelling and grammar usage. Just the kind of ammo you would see in when two people are arguing on Twitter.

Again, the Twitter accounts that you see in the ad are actual accounts. While some of the names are random, there are a few that are nods to those who worked on the film, like @PoppaFreshness‘ name is Nicholas Stollest, which is a clever play on the Muppets Most Wanted screenwriter Nicholas Stoller. This time it’s @hotfudge1218, whose name is Doc Teeth, which is a clever play on Doctor Teeth.

You’ll also see a tweet, from RichPlaya33, that pokes fun at bots and spammers encouraging twitter users to click on their links if they want to make a quick buck. This link will take you back to the BadGuy Talent Agency website.

Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais.

Directed by James Bobin (The Muppets) Muppets Most Wanted also stars Golden Globe host Tina Fey, as well as Ty Burrell, Ricky Gervais, Ray Liotta, and many more. Walt Disney Studios will release the film in theaters on March 21, 2014.
