“Big Hero 6” Trailer: Disney’s Marvel Movie Takes Flight

Sure the marketing for Disney’s Big Hero 6 may have been slow going, but it has quickly amped up thanks in part to marketing tie-ins with the World Cup. The film centers on a young technological prodigy who upgrades his squishy caretaking robot into a superheroic fighting machine.

That was pretty much the premise of the teaser trailer that was released a while back. Now Disney has released a second trailer for the film, which has a little bit of that, but a lot more action and humor. Hit the jump to see the full trailer.

What makes this film rather likable is not the idea that it comes from the studio that brought us Frozen and Wreck-It Ralph – as the trailer would like us to know – it’s that it has comedy that’s for both kids and adults – as hinted by the final joke of Baymax in a drunken stupor due to having a low battery. It’s pretty funny. But the fact that it’s one of Disney and Marvel’s first joint animated films leads us to believe that this will be as much fun as the studio’s last two animated films.

Featuring the voice talents of Scott Adsit, Jamie Chung, T.J. Miller, Genesis Rodriguez, Damon Wayans Jr., Maya Rudolph, Daniel Henney, James Cromwell, and Alan Tudyk, Big Hero 6 opens in theaters on November 7. It is directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams.

With all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6” is an action-packed comedy-adventure about robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who learns to harness his genius—thanks to his brilliant brother Tadashi and their like-minded friends: adrenaline junkie Go Go Tamago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. When a devastating turn of events catapults them into the midst of a dangerous plot unfolding in the streets of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—and transforms the group into a band of high-tech heroes determined to solve the mystery. Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring comic-book style action, “Big Hero 6” is directed by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and Chris Williams (“Bolt”), and produced by Roy Conli (“Tangled”)
