Trailers Weekly: ‘Jupiter Ascending,’ ‘Stretch,’ ‘The Babadook,’ ‘Shrew’s Nest,’ And More Michael Lee, September 27, 2014 Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. We’ve got trailers from Jupiter Ascending, The Babadook, Stretch, The Wedding Ringer, and Shrew’s Nest. Hit the jump to see them all.Jupiter Ascending. Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos. Directed by Lana and Andy Wachowski, Jupiter Ascending opens in theaters on February 6.The Babadook Six years after the violent death of her husband, Amelia (Essie Davis) is at a loss. She struggles to discipline her ‘out of control’ 6 year-old, Samuel (Noah Wiseman), a son she finds impossible to love. Samuel’s dreams are plagued by a monster he believes is coming to kill them both. When a disturbing storybook called ‘The Babadook’ turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the creature he’s been dreaming about. His hallucinations spiral out of control, he becomes more unpredictable and violent. Amelia, genuinely frightened by her son’s behaviour, is forced to medicate him. But when Amelia begins to see glimpses of a sinister presence all around her, it slowly dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may be real. The Babadook hits theaters and VOD on November 28th.The Wedding Ringer Doug Harris (Josh Gad) is a loveable but socially awkward groom-to-be with a problem: he has no best man. With less than two weeks to go until he marries the girl of his dreams (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting), Doug is referred to Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart), owner and CEO of Best Man, Inc., a company that provides flattering best men for socially challenged guys in need. What ensues is a hilarious wedding charade as they try to pull off the big con, and an unexpected budding bromance between Doug and his fake best man Jimmy. The Wedding Ringer hits theaters on January 16.Stretch Via EW: “Patrick Wilson plays a chauffeur in need of a serious cash injection, who agrees to take kooky billionaire Chris Pine around for a night of general insanity. The film also features Ed Helms, Jessica Alba, and Norman Reedus.” Joe Carnahan‘s latest film will be released on iTunes and Amazon on Oct. 7 and VOD on Oct. 14 Shrew’s Nest Montse has had a rough life. Her mother died while giving birth to her sister and her father disappeared during the war. She’s raised her younger sister on her own, a task complicated by her extreme agoraphobia. Montse never leaves the apartment, but works as a seamstress for clients that come to her. Combined with her sister’s work at a local store, they just manage to squeak out a living. But the girl is curious and she has questions about their past that Montse can’t or won’t answer. It opens Oct. 8. Which was your favorite? Do you agree with the Internet buzz?
