Get Ready for An Avatar Novel Dan Koelsch, February 14, 2010February 14, 2010 When James Cameron creates a world for his movies, he doesn’t mess around. The scenario for his first Terminator movie had enough juice to spawn several sequels, and even a TV series. Now, with Avatar, Cameron has a created a realm that is rich with unknown material, from the way the planetary system works to the culture of the Na’vi. Fortunately, all that information won’t go to waste, as Cameron is planning on making a novel based on the world of Avatar. Find out more after the jump. MTV News has the original report, in which they talked to Jon Landau, the film’s producer. Landau says Cameron plans to write the novel itself, and it will be a prequel to the movie. Here’s what Landau had to say about it.“It would be something that would lead up to telling the story of the movie, but it would go into much more depth about all the stories that we didn’t have time to deal with — like the schoolhouse and Sigourney [Weaver’s character] teaching at the schoolhouse; Jake on Earth and his backstory and how he came here; [the death of] Tommy, Jake’s brother; and Colonel Quaritch, how he ended up there and all that,” Landau explained.Movie Trailers – Movies Blog Though Cameron has extensive experience writing screenplays, his would be his first novel. Oh my gosh I am so excited! I cannot wait to hear about the backstory of the characters, especially Jake and Tommy. This is going to be a great novel and I definitely think Cameron can pull it off!
