The Onion Explains The Reason For All The Iron Man 2 Hype Alex Gerage, April 24, 2010 The Onion News Network has discovered the source for all that Iron Man 2 internet buzz. No, it’s not the introduction to War Machine, or the promise of another excellent performance by Robert Downey Jr. In actuality, it’s speculation that Gwyneth Paltrow’s character will get punched in the face sometime during the film, and it has set movie websites into a tizzy. Check out their report after the jump.Apparently there is a lot of pent up hostility towards Gwyneth Paltrow, and The Onion is using that as inspiration for this spoof video. They manage to incorporate the official Iron Man 2 website, Ain’t It Cool News, and Goop.com, which is Paltrow’s own lifestyle website into the story. Check it out below:'Iron Man 2' Buzz Heats Up Over Rumors Gwyneth Paltrow Gets Punched In FaceWhat makes the ONN news spoofs so effective is how realistic the clips look. The graphics and bombastic preshow music are mirror images of what Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC do on a daily basis. While there are some great YouTube videos out there made by individuals and their webcams, the quality of videos like these ground the satire in reality, which makes it even more humorous. Dan mentioned last month that The Onion will have two cable shows premiere on Comedy Central and the Independent Film Channel later this year. I couldn’t be more excited to watch them if the product will look like this.Does the thought of Gwyneth Paltrow getting hit in the face make you more excited to see Iron Man 2? This is a horrible mix-up. Favroe said about Paltrow, “Look at that face… She’s a knock-out!” and someone ran with that statement and took it to mean that someone’s going to hit her in the face. Fact check, people! 😉
