Failed Times Square Car Bomb Linked to South Park? Dan Koelsch, May 3, 2010May 3, 2010 By now you have probably heard about the car bomb found in New York City’s Time Square that failed to detonate correctly due to faulty wiring. While the perpetrators of the terrorist attempt are unknown, there is a surprising connection to South Park. Find out the details after the break. As we reported last week, South Park’s 200th and 201st episodes featured the iconic Muslim Prophet Mohammed, angering many fundamentalist Muslims, since some believe depicting the prophet in any form is a grave sin. This lead to death threats to show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Of course, this isn’t new, since we’ve seen threats and actual violence stem from this issue before, notably London’s Tiger Tiger nightclub bombing in 2007. The Telegraph reports that after anaylzing the car bomb in New York, officials have noted that it has many striking similarities to the London bomb. This is leading them to believe that the attempt might be aimed towards Parker and Stone, since the car was parked near the offices of Viacom, owners of Comedy Central. Of course, this is all speculation, and we won’t know who the actual culprits are until more facts come in. It’s hard for me to fathom that South Park is at the center of all this, but investigators have to work every angle.
