Latest Star Wars-Adidas Promo Gives You Control of the Death Star Alex Gerage, June 30, 2010 Adidas has released another viral promotion for their Star Wars line of Adidas Originals. Many of you will remember the deftly made ‘Star Wars Cantina 2010’ video released earlier in the month, which seamlessly placed several of today’s biggest celebrities in the classic scene. The shoe company’s latest viral activity involves your house and the Death Star. Did I catch your attention? Learn the details after the jump. The Adidas Originals Death Star Superlaser Application uses Facebook and Google Maps to show the destruction that the space station could cause if it was in service today. Once the application loads, you can connect it with your Facebook profile and enjoy the proceeding clip. As they did with the ‘Cantina 2010’ spot, the application edits together actual scenes from A New Hope to create the allusion that the Death Star is prepping to strike, only the target isn’t the planet Alderaan, but rather your house or that of a friend. Between the ‘Cantina 2010’ video and this interactive app, it’s obvious to me that Adidas has their creative marketing juices flowing. Heck, I find these promotional moves more appealing than the shoe designs themselves (I am a huge Star Wars fan, but my feet get scared just looking at them). Let’s hope though sales are strong so that we may be treated to more viral applications like these in the future. Do you own a pair of Adidas Originals Star Wars shoes?
