NBC’s ‘The Event’ Adds Character Twitters and New Viral Website Dan Koelsch, September 20, 2010September 26, 2010 The Event premieres tonight on NBC, and if the mystery grabs you, there are some crafty online options for you to peel away the secrecy. First of all, many of the big characters have their own Twitter accounts. Also, a blog has been created for someone who is seeking the truth. Get the details after the break. The Event is meant to be the next big mystery show with surprises at every turn. The hour-long drama follows Sean Walker (Jason Ritter), a man who, while investigating the mysterious disappearance of his girlfriend Leila (Sarah Roemer), begins to discover the biggest cover-up in U.S. history (leading to something the characters call “The Event”). We also see the story told through the eyes of President Elias Martinez (Blair Underwood) and others who are either involved in The Event or who are discovering it as well. So, of course, the big question is “What is The Event?”, which the NBC commercials have been very clever in promoting. You can follow the characters themselves on Twitter to help try to figure out what what’s going on. You can follow NBC’s list of the characters, or follow them each yourself by seeing the list below. Sean Walker President Martinez Leila Buchanan Vicky Roberts Greg Kervin JB & Marla Olsen Greg and Vicki are a couple that Sean and Leila meet in Antigua, while the Olsens are an unfortunate couple on the same trip (I don’t want to spoil anything!). A new website has also premiered, called the TruthSeeker Blog. I’m not sure what the 5314 in the URL means, but it’ll probably be important later on. There is only one post from the truth seeker so far.Posted by TruthSeeker on August 31, 2010 at 14:49If you found this website, it means you’re searching for answers. Seeking the truth. I have decided to start this site to expose some of the fallacies propagated by our government. Something big is coming, sooner than later. Something that will change life as we know it. Some high-level executives inside the Martinez administration are continuing to hide the truth, and I can no longer sit here and passively watch them toy with our future so carelessly. The truth must be heard. My position grants me access to highly sensitive information. In order to continue exposing the truth in these pages, and for considerations that I am sure you understand, I am not at liberty to divulge my true identity.I am still putting together the pieces of the puzzle and formulating my theories. And I need your help. Every document I manage to obtain will be posted on this website.Together, we will seek out the truth…– TruthSeeker5314This should get interesting. You can also follow Mr. TruthSeeker5314 on Twitter. I’m excited to see where this will go, as it is hard to pull off a good ARG for Television. The conspiracy theory links on the site look to be for real sites, though they of course advertise for the show. NBC has another website for The Event called The Event Is Coming, which debuted at Comic-Con. Here, you can stay up-to-date on the show, and there’s even a Creators Blog from showrunner Nick Wauters. We’ll keep an eye out for all of this to see where it goes. ARGs & Campaigns Viral Marketing NBCThe Event

Congratulations, NBC! You’ve managed to breach the fourth wall with your first site. Don’t make an in-game site point back to the product it’s promoting.
This show was horrible. I could write a more entertaining and better designed concept than this jump all over the place through moments in time with horrible editing for 100 dollars.do not watch this show if you value your brain cells. This is a very sad attempt. I am sorry i experienced the EVENT. I would like 1000 dollars per minute for 60 minutes as i cannot get this hour back.
I enjoyed it, the climax was worth the wait, but anyone who has ever been on a cruise knows passengers cannot get on or off a cruise ship in the islands without a picture ID made by the cruise ship. It almost took me away from the story, but didn’t.
