Super 8 Spy Photos and Another Casting Notice Dan Koelsch, September 20, 2010September 26, 2010 We already know that Super 8, the sci-fi film produced by J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg, is shooting in the small town of Weirton, WV. What we didn’t know until now is the exact setting, which is supposed to be somewhere in Ohio around 1979. Thanks to some spy photos coming from Weirton, we know that Super 8 takes place in the fictional town of Lillian, OH. Take a look at some of the photos, as well as a new casting call, after the break. All of these photos come from AICN, who have a lot more on their site, so check it out. AICN also has a casting call from someone who used to live in West Virginia but still gets notices. Read what the AICN reader wrote below.Hi there, I used to live in West Virginia and got the casting notices all the time from the Film office (still do even though I live in Los Angeles now) And this popped up in my inbox the other day. Most major productions take longer than that, so it will be interesting to see where else Paramount shoots. Also, this looks to take place in the Summer thanks to the Lillian Middle School marquee.
