Super 8 Spy Photos and Another Casting Notice

We already know that Super 8, the sci-fi film produced by J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg, is shooting in the small town of Weirton, WV. What we didn’t know until now is the exact setting, which is supposed to be somewhere in Ohio around 1979. Thanks to some spy photos coming from Weirton, we know that Super 8 takes place in the fictional town of Lillian, OH. Take a look at some of the photos, as well as a new casting call, after the break.

Hi there, I used to live in West Virginia and got the casting notices all the time from the Film office (still do even though I live in Los Angeles now) And this popped up in my inbox the other day. Might be useful info to have about the Paramount filming going on in Weirton. If you can use this, call me 10 Minutes of Silence.

Major Motion Picture from Paramount – Call for Stand-Ins / Photo Doubles. Paid positions. Must be available for 12 hour(**) days and or nights Monday through Friday. Filming takes place in and around Weirton, WV mid-September through mid-October 2010. Minors must be WV residents. Some interesting things we’re able to glean from this is that filming in Weirton should only last for about a month. Most major productions take longer than that, so it will be interesting to see where else Paramount shoots. Also, this looks to take place in the Summer thanks to the Lillian Middle School marquee.
