Become a Test Subject For the Human Preservation Project Dan Koelsch, May 24, 2011June 1, 2011 A MovieViral reader who goes by Jonny Quest has clued us in to a pretty interesting alternate reality game website. The site is TestSubjectsNeeded.com, and is part of what these people are calling the Human Preservation Project. What is it for, and was it found? Get the details after the break. When you go to the website, you are greeted with a long paragraph about how the tests are not conventional and that they are looking for particular people to undergo experiments that will seemingly enhance their senses. The flashing “Start Evaluation Now” link takes you to the test, which is a LOST/Clockwork Orange barrage of images and sounds accompanied by questions about how you feel and such. It’s actually a bit disturbing. After your test, the site asks you to create a profile and sign up. They don’t say who they are, only that this is for the Human Preservation Project. There don’t seem to be any clues as to what they’re preserving us from, or how enhancing senses (if that is even what they are planning to do) would achieve that. What we do know, also thanks to Jonny, is that this is probably a campaign for 5 Gum, a brand of Wrigley gum whose slogan, “Stimulate Your Senses”, flashes on the screen near the end of the test. If true, it’s a bit of a let down, but a smart viral marketing ploy nontheless. Jonny found the site through a bit of morse code in the DC comic Flashpoint. What do you think of the site? Is it a letdown if this is for gum? Let us know in the comments below. Viral Marketing FlashPointTest Subjects NeededWrigley
Exclusive Crazies Comic Book Review February 17, 2010October 18, 2011Most films that have viral campaigns do so because there is so much backstory worth exploring, yet they cannot waste time (and pacing) in the film to flesh it all out. The Crazies falls into that category, as the events leading up to the outbreak are glossed over in favor… Read More

42 Entertainment CONFIRMED. Seattle Weekly had a QR code-only print ad (no mention of 5Gum). The seattleweekly.com site has an Ad Index and the QR code is there titled “42 Entertainment Ad”, under the category entertainment>concerts, festivals and events. Still no idea what this is for. http://bit.ly/jAfdKY
It is for 5 gum! In seventeen magazine there was an ad for 5 gum and a barcode thing at the bottom so i used the barcode scanner on my motorola atrix to scan it and it took me to some crazy website where i hd to look at weird pictures and describe how it made me feel.. then watch a video.. it had no point really lol
Got an ad at E3 advertising for people to go to “testsubjectsneeded.com”. The envelope was black with a “confidential” sticker sealing it. I completed the test up to the point where it started asking for my address. The fact that it was handed out at E3 made me think it was a game, but i’m not so sure since there were no references to gameplay at all.
At Bonnaroo 2011, they dropped millions of LED lights from plastic propellers from an airplane and skydivers. The lights filled the sky making it look like blue glitter….the absolute coolest thing I’ve ever seen at Bonnaroo! On the propellars there were the QR scan on one side and the website “missionicefly” on the other. Still no clue what it is for.
It will be a huge letdown if this is just for some stupid gum. A movie would be cool, but I suspect a video game like @halla suggests. I saw that at the bottom as well.
It was such a shame. I did the whole sign up thing. All they sent me in the mail was a package in metallic silver packaging with nothing in it but a stupid paper helicopter. Then a QR code was on the helicopter so I scanned it with my phone, it showed me a vid, had me do another assessment, then it told me to log back on on my computer, but nothing happened. So I dont get it. It was a big let down….
