Marvel Finally Decides To Promote “Captain America” With New Poster and Trailer Dan Koelsch, June 24, 2011June 24, 2011 Marvel Studio’s last movie before the superhero team-up movie The Avengers is next month’s Captain America: The First Avenger. However, despite the film being just weeks away from opening, the studio, along with distributor Paramount, have really dropped the ball on marketing it. We haven’t seen much promotional material, and up until today there had only been one full trailer, and even it only showed a few seconds of Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans) in the suit. Fortunately, it looks like the bigwigs have finally decided to step up the effort with a second trailer that shows more Captain, as well as a new poster from Yahoo that has a classic patriotic look to it. Check them both out after the break.(Click for Full Size)These were both released yesterday, and when coupled with the shield-centric featurette released this weekend, it looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more of the first Avenger in the coming weeks. What do you think of Marvel and Paramount’s marketing of Captain America, especially in comparison their mega-promotion of Thor?Captain America: The First Avenger opens in theaters on July 22nd. The movie tells the origin story of the famous superhero and falls into the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity, which includes such movies and superheroes as Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Thor. The Avengers, set to be released next summer, has all these heroes team up to fight Thor’s mischievous brother Loki, Captain America’s arch nemesis Red Skull, and more.
