Nickelodeon Finally Realizes That “The 90’s Are All That”! Caleb Hamilton, July 25, 2011May 24, 2015 Ahh the 90’s, a much simpler time for most of us. The afternoons filled with adventures on the playground, Nintendo Gameboys in hand, most likely loaded with a Pokemon cartridge. Or we’d spend the days indoors watching our favorite shows on the television. Some people grew nostalgic, longing for the “olden” days and Nickelodeon shows like All That, Kenan & Kel and Doug. In response to numerous Facebook groups and forum topics, Nickelodeon is finally bringing back the 90’s in a new block set to air tonight! The 90’s Are All That is a programming block that begins airing tonight at Midnight on TeenNick! It’s a chance for those who grew up in the 90’s to relive their childhood and later generations to experience “quality” television. Fans can help influence which shows are added to block by posting comments and suggestions on the block’s Facebook page, voting on the website or sending a tweet! During each episode, fans can discuss the program live with other fans, or watch full episodes of their favorite shows online anytime they want! Check out the promo: http://youtu.be/2VHITziyFP8 Numerous nostalgic teens took to the internet to voice their longing for their favorite shows to re-air. A high school newspaper actually printed a false story early this year which stated that due to low ratings for it’s current line-up, Nickelodeon would be producing brand-new episodes of some of its classic series such as Rocket Power, Rugrats and Hey, Arnold! The article, which has since been pulled, went viral, showing up on Tumblrs, Facebook news feeds, forums and linked in tweets. There was no official word from Nickelodeon on whether the story was true. When asked what took Nickelodeon so long to bring back these shows during a live Q&A with the Washington Post, Senior Vice President and General Manager of NickToons and TeenNick, Keith Dawkins said,We’ve always thought that these classic Nick shows still had value to an audience…but the ground swell of fans giving voice this on places like Facebook and Twitter really moved mountains. To hear millions of people saying that they want the Nickelodeon of their childhood back is a powerful statement. It’s one that we just had to react to.Currently the following shows are slated to air weekly:Aaahh!!! i would like to see you can’t do that on television, the world of allen strange, welcome freshmen, fifteen, they should make a channel for just the classics nick 80’s an 90’s
KABLAM! Figure it Out, What Would You Do? & Wild & Crazy Kids. Anywho, still enjoyed the block; eventually this could easily lead to its own channel like Nick GAS once was. Rocket Power?
So pissed right now. For months I’ve been waiting for this and then realize on starting night .. its on teennick which I don’t have. So many people have asked for the 90sfirst shows back. So why would nickelodeon put them only on a station select people have rather than on a station everyone has. People would much rather watch this than a fucking George lopez marathon. Thanks nick at nite for ruining my night!
Finally its time they realise the shows of the 90s were quality shows! But why is ‘sister sister’ not on the list?? That’s a joke!! Should be top of the list!
Sister Sister was mainly on Disney Channel, ABC Family ( owned by Disney). It was originally distributed through the WB and Fox. It only ran on Nickelodeon as re-runs. it wasn’t originally theirs. They are gonna play the shows that were always theirs
