C2E2 2012: Captain America Auction Alex Gerage, April 13, 2012April 15, 2012 As one of the site’s resident Chicagoans, I am fortunate enough to attend the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) at McCormick Place with relative ease. Since it first launched in 2010, C2E2 has sought to provide the Midwest with a taste of pop culture the way the San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic-Con cater to our country’s coasts. While not nearly as big of a show, C2E2 still draws attention because it brings the likes of Marvel and DC Comics to the Windy City, along with some fairly high profile celebrities and panels. Our coverage begins with photos from one of the convention’s biggest draws: Profiles in History’s Captain America: The First Avenger auction. Hit the jump to learn more about the auction and see photos of the items currently on display on the C2E2 floor! Two years ago, C2E2 hosted an auction for numerous items from the Iron Man films. While Tony Stark’s suits and the crushed Mark III armor on display were impressive, they don’t compare with seeing the items from Captain America. Convention visitors are treated to every incarnation of the Captain America suit, along with the actual vials of super soldier serum, all of Cap’s shields and more. In addition, there are items from Thor on display, including Mjolnir. The 200 plus items will go on the auction block Saturday at 6 p.m. If you are walking around with some deep pockets this weekend and would like some more information on the auction, you can visit the C2E2 website. You can click the thumbnails below to view bigger versions of the pictures. Our coverage of C2E2 will continue throughout the next few days. Comic-Con Conventions Events C2E2Captain America: The First AvengerIron ManThor
