Trailers Weekly: “A Christmas Story 2”, “Cloud Atlas”, “Hansel and Gretel”, and “Breaking Dawn – Part 2”

Dan Koelsch, September 8, 2012

Trailers Weekly is a feature in which we bring you the most popular and talked about trailers of the week. Sharing trailers is a classic viral practice, and trailers are still the most mainstream way for people to learn about movies. This week includes A Christmas Story 2, Cloud Atlas, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, and Breaking Dawn – Part 2.

A Christmas Story 2

The sequel that no one asked for goes straight to DVD/Blu-Ray on October 30th. The response to the trailer released this week (which also served as an announcement of the film’s existence) has not been favorable to say the least. The trailer almost plays like a parody, especially with the whole “Official Sequel” thing being thrown around to give the film some cred.

Cloud Atlas

After seeing the 6 minute extended trailer for the Wachowskis’ Cloud Atlas, a theatrical trailer has finally been released for the sci-fi epic scheduled to hit theaters on October 26th.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters

The much-delayed Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters finally sees a trailer. I don’t expect much from this re-imagining of the Grimm fairy tale, given the mixed response to the trailer, along with the film being pushed back almost a year to the death slot of January 11, 2013.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2

The final trailer for the final film in a film series that is finally over on November 16th.

What did you think of this week’s trailers? Which was your favorite? Do you agree with the Internet buzz? Of course, every week there are a lot more trailers, teasers, TV spots, and clips that we can’t cover, so go to TrailerAddict.com to see your favorites. You can also download trailers in HD at Apple.com, or the new iTunes Movie Trailers App on your iPhone or iPad.
