The Buzz: Marvel Concept Art and Casting Rumors, Del Toro Not Directing The Hobbit, and More! Dan Koelsch, June 4, 2010June 6, 2010 The Buzz is a feature in which we round up the biggest and most popular film and television stories of the week. Why go through pages of blogs just to find out what everyone is talking about? We’ve got it all right here. Check out all the stories after the break. Marvel NewsMarvel got some good press this week as they released their concept art for Captain America and Thor, both of which come out next summer. While the costume designs polarized many fans, it’s at least got them talking. For those who oppose, I think we need to wait to see the real deals before making any final decisions. This week also saw more casting rumors for Marvel films. Josh Holloway of LOST fame is supposedly in negotiations for a lead role in on of the studio’s upcoming project, though his reps claim it’s just a rumor. Also, the Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye rumors are looking more promising, and Neal McDonough (Minority Report) might be playing Dum Dum Dugan in Captain America. The HobbitThe fate of producer Peter Jackson’s prequel to the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy is up in the air yet again, as Guillermo Del Toro stepped down as director earlier this week. However, Jackson might direct it himself if a suitable replacement isn’t found. Other NewsEveryone seems to hate the first trailer for Gulliver’s Travels starring Jack Black (more on that tomorrow), Christopher Nolan has confirmed that the Joker will not be in the third Batman sequel, and someone wants to do a Rush Limbaugh biopic for some reason. That’s it for this week’s The Buzz. There is a lot of film and television news every week, so if you think something was big enough for us to include above, let us know in the comments below.
