Buy an Album, Get “Fringe” Spoilers? Dan Koelsch, January 8, 2011January 9, 2011 I’m not a big fan of the J.J. Abrams sci-fi television show Fringe myself, but I watched a bit of the first season and thought it was interesting. Part of my problem was how complicated the plot was (as should be expected from an Abrams show, even on FOX), but if you’re dying to learn some spoilers, you’re in luck, as long as there’s a record store near you. On the upcoming January 21st episode of Fringe, Walter gets to meet his musical hero, Roscoe Joyce, the keyboardist for the ’70s band Violet Sedan Chair, who is played by Back to the Future‘s Christopher Lloyd. The band has been mentioned on the show before, and their name has been analyzed for clues. The shows producers have engineered a brilliant viral marketing move by actually creating an album for the band, titled Seven Suns, and actually shipping it to independent record stores across the country. In fact, the classic vinyl albums have been in stores for months now. If that wasn’t good enough, TV Line is reporting that there are some direct connections to the show:The best part: Each individual album is different, including specific spoilers and clues about the show embedded in the lyrics (and possibly elsewhere). “They all have unique properties,” says the source. So, if you find a copy, let us know, and see if you can find any clues or spoilers! There’s also a video recently posted on YouTube is supposedly connected, but I have my doubts. Head on over there to see for yourself. Fringe returns to FOX to continue its third season on January 21st, in its new Friday 9pm timeslot. Viral Marketing FoxFringeJ.J. AbramsViolet Sedan Chair
