Facebook Debuts Mention Boxes During Emmys Michael Lee, August 25, 2014April 15, 2015 Award shows are finding new and inventive ways to interact with their fans beyond the behind the scenes look or photobooth shots. Social media has the door for nominees to talk to their fans. Often times viewers are asked to include a hashtags to help increase the show’s social media presence and hopefully viewership.Last year, the Golden Globes did it by having nominees use an Instagram station. Ellen DeGeneres did with her Academy Awards selfie, which actually crashed Twitter for a brief moment. Now Facebook is getting in the awards show game. In anticipation for the Emmys, Facebook has teamed up with Access Hollywood, and will give tablets to nominees who will then interact with their fans on the social media giant.Hit the jump to learn more.The campaign is called the Mention Box. Mashable says that fans will have to go on Access Hollywood’s Facebook Page to ask questions of the stars. Celebrities will then shake the device the way they would a Magic 8-Ball and then answer a question using the video camera.The purpose of this campaign is to get “celebrities to post more content and be more engaged with their fans on Facebook.”So what do you guys think?
