Tron Legacy Updates: Special IMAX Scenes and New Photo Shows Flynn’s Arcade Dan Koelsch, March 1, 2010December 1, 2010 The latest Tron Legacy ARG event is over, and now we are just waiting for the trailer to premiere online later this week. Until then, we have a few updates regarding the IMAX release of the film and a new photo that has Flynn’s Arcade in it. Catch up after the jump. For fans going to see Tron Legacy in IMAX theaters, you are in a for a treat. According to director Joseph Kosinski, five sequences in the film will be shown at 1.7:1 aspect ratio, which fills up most of the IMAX screen, as opposed to regular 2.35:1 aspect ratio, which leaves big black bars on the top and bottom of the bigger screen. No, this isn’t just a stretched image, it’s actually more video in the frame. This is achieved thanks to the Sony CineAlta Fusion 3D cameras used for filming, as opposed to IMAX cameras. We also have a new promotional photo for the movie in which we get to see a bit of the sign for Flynn’s Arcade, as well as Kevin Flynn’s son Sam (Garrett Hedlund) riding his motorcycle. Tron Legacy releases nationwide on IMAX and 3D on December 17th. Sources: Slashfilm and Firstshowing Viral Marketing Flynn LivesimaxTronTron Legacy
