Tron Legacy Trailer to Premiere Online Next Week Dan Koelsch, March 5, 2010March 5, 2010 In what’s becoming our daily Tron Legacy update, MTV has confirmed that the much anticipated first trailer (not including test footage from last year) to the film will be debuting online next week. Many thought it would be this week, thanks in part to four images from the trailer being released this Monday through Thursday. So, why the delay? Find out after the jump. If you’re dying to see the trailer, don’t fret. You CAN see it this weekend by going to see Disney’s Alice in Wonderland in 3D, out today in theaters. Legacy director Joseph Kosinski told MTV that essentially the reasoning for the delayed online trailer release is that since the trailer is in 3D, audiences should really see it in that format first, then download it. While I understand the logic, it’s still disappointing. This is quite good cross-promoting from Disney. So, are you upset that you won’t see the trailer until next week? Or will you suck it up and buy a 3D ticket to Alice in Wonderland? If you already saw the trailer, let us know what you thought of it in the comments below. Avatar Viral Review December 23, 2009December 23, 2009This review contains minimal spoilers for those who have yet to see Avatar. I definitely recommend checking out Iain’s review of the film, as it sums up my personal reaction perfectly. Although the film’s story was far more pedestrian and predictable than I originally thought (and would have liked), there is no… Read More
Loved the trailer! Awesome in 3-D! Frankly, I liked it better than Alice in Wonderland and wish I could have paid to see the trailer over and over again for 30 minutes. Eagerly looking forward to burning myself out on it next week.
Recapped at length on the website, but in short I enjoyed the TRON LEGACY trailer very much. It achieves a perfect blend of old a new, history and future which thrilled fans at the LA screening (twice!). Agreed it should be seen in 3D/IMAX on first viewing — seeing an 80-feet tall Recognizer in 3D is guaranteed geekgasm.
We actually got to see the trailer last Saturday. You can find our thoughts here: http://www.nygeekcast.com/2010/03/bite-size-4-flynn-lives/
the trailer was absolutely awesome. i agree take my ticket money and let me watch it over and over for 30 minutes!
A lot of times IMAX doesn’t show trailers at all, or doesn’t show the right trailers. I don’t know what that’s about.
saw it in imax 3d and it was INSANITY – best part of my alice in wonderland experience – and i kinda liked the movieanyone know if that was the daft punk score? sounded like their crunchy synths to me
Saw Alice in Wonderland last night (Friday Mar 5), and I was COMPLETELY stunned by the new TRON trailer. The Alice movie was a bit disappointing, and I found myself thinking about the TRON trailer. I want to see the trailer again! I’m 40 years old and totally remember watching the original TRON when it came out 28 years ago. This is going to be my movie to watch for this year. Unbelievable!!!Daft Punk music was so good just for the trailer…I might just buy the TRON Legacy soundtrack!
I fully agree with the above statements. Whereas Alice in Wonderland left me rather disappointed and unengaged, the new Tron Legacy trailer had me soaking up every last detail. By the end of it I could only mouth “Wow” to my neighbor and fellow movie buff. The fact that the old crew has been brought back (Jeff Bridges & Bruce Boxleitner) already brought back fond memories of the original Tron but the visual graphics of the modern computer world will leave you stunned and hungry for more. As a result, Tron could very well become the next epic for year. Only time will tell.+++End of program+++
I love the trailer. I watched TRON as a kid I think at least 7-8 times in a row, and paid for it!! The build up in the trailer at the Alice in Wonderland premier in 3D was just AMAZING.. they moment they said go back to “Flynn’s” and I saw the arcade…. I knew I had to see this movie… I used to draw the Recognizers and the Light Cycles when I was a kid and the technology NOW is incredible… I cant WAIT to see this movie!
