Detroit Won’t Erect Robocop Statue Dan Koelsch, February 8, 2011 Briefly: In what may be the saddest news of the young year, Mayor Dave Bing of Detroit responded to a Twitter comment asking why there isn’t a Robocop statue in Detroit like there is of Rocky in Philadelphia. Bing says there are no plans to erect such a statue, which shouldn’t be surprising as the film is set in a dystopian Detroit that is so wrought with corruption and poverty that a cyborg police officer has to be created.
