Viral Video: Saturday Night Live Spoof Marvel’s Blockbuster Success With ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Chris Pratt Michael Lee, September 29, 2014September 29, 2014 At some point in time, Marvel Studios will have to hit a box office speed bump. But they haven’t. Even a film like Guardians of the Galaxy, which had Groot (talking tree) and Rocket Raccoon (a napalm loving raccoon), has turned out to be one of the highest grossing films of the year. It doesn’t seem like anything can stop Marvel. So it only seemed fitting that SNL spoof their success with the help of their host and Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt. Hit the jump to check out the hilarious video. The SNL skit points out that almost every film that Marvel makes can be a guaranteed hit. Like I said, Guardians of the Galaxy had plenty of crazy characters, and it has grossed $319 million this year alone, making it the highest grossing film of the year. So it makes light of the fact that one of their next films is Ant-Man, and make a point of one of the hero’s powers is simply talking to ants.It then flips to Chris Pratt who walks down the same corridor to fit whatever crazy absurd title that SNL can come up with. The skit even got the eye of director James Gunn, who tweeted out that he would “direct” one of the film spoofs mentioned in the skit.I'm officially directing Marvel's Fancy Ghosts! Also can't wait to see Shopping Carts get the Time Stone from Modok! https://t.co/dxwq8kHKFe— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) September 28, 2014We will have to see if or more like when Marvel’s superiority at the box office will end. But for now, we can enjoy SNL skits like this one as long as Marvel continues to be number one at the box office for many weeks.
