The Interstellar Oculus Rift DK2 experience has been traveling around the world to different theaters leading up to the release of the film, but will arrive at the Udvar-Hazy Center just in time for the opening of the movie. The Oculus Rift experience will allow movie fans to don an Oculus Rift headset and explore the Endurace spacecraft in an exciting virtual reality environment. Visitors will join the crew of Endurance and experience weightlessness and views of the galaxy. The Oculus Rift experience will last 3 minutes and will be open from 10 A.M. to 11 P.M.
Making its world-wide debut at the Udvar-Hazy Center is the Ranger spaceship built for the film. Unfortunately, the ship will not be a life-size version like some of the other air and space craft on display at the museum. The exhibit opens on November 6th and will be open until November 20th. Admission to the museum is free.
Interstellar will play at the Airbus IMAX theater at the Udvar-Hazy Center starting on November 4th at 8 P.M. It will also play at the National Air & Space Museum’s Lockheed Martin IMAX theater in Washington, D.C. Both will show the film in 70mm on 6-story screens! You can purchase tickets here.
