“Community” Lives On To See Season 6 Michael Lee, June 30, 2014 Community is just that one sitcom that refuses to get cancelled. After four seasons of continual low ratings, a strange schedule, cast member disputes and departures, Community nearly met its end after NBC cancelled it after five long hilarious but also tumultuous seasons. But fear not, as Abed would appropriately shout: “SIX SEASONS AND A MOVIE.” Okay half of that statement is true, the other half has yet to be announced (cross your fingers). The sitcom has been revived, and has found a new home, and a brand new platform, Yahoo Screen. Scratching your head? Thought that Community would find its new home on Hulu. Well hit the jump to read more about this.See you in the fall. #CommunityLivesOn pic.twitter.com/HSIzD0StT9— Yahoo Screen (@YahooScreen) June 30, 2014YahooScreen made the announcement on its twitter page just moments ago, and as you can see, they are already starting a twitter campaign to let everyone know the great news. They even got a hashtag already trending, #CommunityLivesOn.According to The Wrap, the next season of Community will have 13 episodes. While many assumed that Dan Harmon’s comedy would be revived on Hulu, Sony and the Streaming Website could not reach a deal in time. So, Sony struck a deal with YahooScreen, which is a combination of Hulu and YouTube, where they have partnerships with BuzzFeed, NBC’s SNL, and Comedy Central, but also have cat videos. I’m not entirely familiar with the website, but that is what I get out of it from reading the Twitter profile. Here is what Harmon told The Wrap: “I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo. I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!”So after successfully securing a deal with YahooScreen, is a movie in the near future? After all, it wouldn’t truly be “Six Seasons and a Movie” without the “movie.” News Social Networks
