The Crazies: Ogden Marsh Sheriff’s Website is Live

Dan Koelsch, January 18, 2010January 18, 2010

Ogden Marsh Sheriff

UPDATE: Our forum friend has found another update to the site. Right click on the screen and select “play” from your options. A list of dispatch messages are shown, though only the first one can be listened to. The message is from Kim Jonson, who you may remember runs SaveOgdenMarsh.com, but it’s just asking for a permit to assemble.

You may remember that Scott reported earlier about how OdgenMarshSheriff.com had been linked to briefly from OgdenMarsh.com before being taken down. At the time, the site clearly hadn’t been set up. Today, we know the site works thanks to a member of our forum. So, what goodies are to be found at OdgenMarshSheriff.com? Find out after the jump.

Right off the bat, the site looks cheesy, which shouldn’t be a surprise as many of the Ogden Marsh based websites are not exactly professional. This seems to done on purpose to reflect the small town feel of Ogden Marsh. Well, it works. Of course it has an image of Sheriff Dutton (Timothy Olyphant), and there aren’t any links to other pages or websites, but there is a login. We’ve seen a user login on DP Chemicals, so it looks like the campaign is going to focus on that in terms of interactivity. I emailed the staff email they provide, but I got a failure of delivery notification.

There is one more thing on the site worth mentioning: the phone number. The site provides 712-560-1196 as the number to call in case of emergencies (what, 911 isn’t good enough?). I called the phone number, but all I got was a generic message about how the person I was trying to reach isn’t here and there are no new messages. No mention that the number (which actually is an Iowa area code) is for the Ogden Marsh Sheriff department. There was an option to talk to other people on the line, but that didn’t seem to mean much. I left a message, so we’ll have to see if that leads to anything. They may add more to the phone and the site later, so keep a look out!

The Crazies, based on the 1973 George A. Romero movie, opens Febuary 26th. For more information on the film and its viral campaign check out our The Crazies viral page.

Very informative text. I’ve found your blog via Yahoo and I’m really glad about the information you provide in your posts. Btw your blogs layout is really messed up on the Kmelon browser. Would be great if you could fix that. Anyhow keep up the great work!
