Uber Offers A Pickup From Transformer Optimus Prime In Marketing Tie-In Kevin C, June 16, 2014June 16, 2014 Popular ride service Uber has been seriously disrupting the taxi space for a while. They’ve recently had some real challenges in cities like London (where the cabbies there are striking over the service). While that serious drama unfolds, Uber appears to be having a little fun too. Uber and Transformers: Age of Extinction are getting together for a marketing tie-in where you could request a pickup from Optimus Prime himself. Hit the jump on for more.Viral campaigns for Transformers: Age of Extinction have included a great deal of the anti-transformer angle we’ll see in the upcoming movie. In participating cities (Dallas, Phoenix, and Los Angeles) you can request a pickup from Optimus Prime himself. The range of area, and dates and times are very narrow, so you’ll need to be watching. Here are the specific times:For those in Dallas right now, they’ve missed the opportunity. But, for Phoenix and Los Angeles, we can prepare. If you’re lucky enough to get up close and person with Optimus Prime, we want to hear from you. Tweet us your selfie with hashtag #MovieViral. More details on this marketing tie in can be found on Uber’s blog.Transformers: Age of Extinction stars Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor and Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime.
