“The Grand Budapest Hotel” Viral Marketing Campaign Launches Zubrowka Film Commission Website Michael Lee, February 5, 2014February 5, 2014 Last week, we posted an article about the newly launched viral marketing campaign for Wes Anderson‘s The Grand Budapest Hotel. AkademieZubrowka website offered an exclusive look at where the film is set and some of the props that are going to be used in the film. Now a new site, helping promote the Zubrowka Film Commission, has launched.Described as “exclusive behind-the-scenes look at filming in the Republic of Zubrowka, home of the illustrious Grand Budapest Hotel and the setting of three-time Academy Award nominee Wes Anderson’s latest film,” the site is designed to be like any other state film commission that is looking for filmmakers to produce their film on location. Hit the jump to see some photos from the site, plus an exclusive clip. The tumblr site has gifs, clips, trailers, and other images from the film. Other content includes little factoids about the actors and the characters they are playing, why filmmakers should film in Zubrowka, and other fun vignettes.True to Wes Anderson form, the site’s design is quirky and unconventional. There is a calendar feature that allows users to interact with certain dates, which by the way go go in order. Seeing that there are a couple of blanks on the calendar, this could mean that more content will be uploaded in the weeks leading up to the film’s release. Here is a clip:THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL recounts the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune — all against the back-drop of a suddenly and dramatically changing Continent.Opening in theaters on March 7, The Grand Budapest Hotel stars Ralph Fiennes, F. Murray Abraham, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Saorise Ronan, Harvey Keitel, Tilda Swinton, Owen Wilson, Bob Balaban, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Murray, Jude Law, Edward Norton, Jason Scwartzman, and newcomer Zero Moustafa.
