“Ex-Machina” Uses Tinder App To Cleverly Market The Film At SXSW Christopher Moore, March 15, 2015April 1, 2015 If you’re using the dating app Tinder and you’re in Austin, TX checking out the SXSW conference and festival, then don’t be surprised if a hot 25 year old woman by the name of Ava pops up in your list of possible matches. Don’t fall for it, though, because per Adweek, it’s actually a clever viral marketing campaign for the upcoming artificial intelligence-oriented sci-fi film, Ex Machina. After the jump, check out Ava‘s Tinder profile and an actual conversation someone had with the movie’s character. Here’s a picture of Ava’s Tinder profile: Ava is actually the name of the female robot with artificial intelligence in the film and the pictures are of Swedish actress Alicia Vikander who stars in that role. Reporter Tim Nudd of Adweek wrote about his friend who fell for Ava through the Tinder app and here’s the conversation he had with her. When the guy went to Ava‘s “meetava” instagram account, he found a pic promoting the premiere of the film at SXSW as well as a trailer on the account. It’s a perfect campaign for the film, because the movie’s story is about a guy who is brought in to assess the human qualities of an artificially intelligent robot. If you’d like to know more about the movie, you can check out their official site, follow them on Twitter, “Like” them on Facebook or follow them on their official Instagram.
